Xiaomi Skips “16” — Jumps to 17 Series

Surprise move: Xiaomi is skipping the 16 generation and launching straight with the Xiaomi 17 series. 

Three Models Expected 

The lineup likely includes: Xiaomi 17 (base), Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max (formerly “Ultra”). 

Launch Timeline 

China launch: late September 2025. • Global release: early 2026, possibly around MWC.  

Processor & Performance Boost 

First phones to sport the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. RAM range: 12-16 GB; storage: 256 GB to 1 TB.  

Display Upgrades 

Base model: ~6.3-inch LTPO OLED, 1.5K resolution. • Pro / Pro Max: ~6.7-inch, 1440p, adaptive refresh, ultra-thin bezels.  

Camera Improvements 

• Triple rear camera setup. • Base version gets a periscope zoom; top models may include 5× optical zoom, 200 MP periscope, 1-inch sensor; Leica tuning for Pro. 

Rear Mini Display Feature 

Pro and Pro Max variants expected to include a small secondary display on the back (within the camera module) for notifications, clock, etc. 

Battery & Charging
